Word Limit: 1,500 words
Attention creative writers! The first short story contest for the Pinecrest Creative Writing Club in 2021 is the “Picture Worth 1500 Words” contest. Submissions are due February 12, and we ask that you keep your story under 1500 words. Your task is to write a short story inspired by any one of the five pictures below. Have fun with it!
All submissions will be posted on the club website(if you are uncomfortable with this, please tell Mrs. Beittel), and the winner will get the club trophy and their story featured on Instagram and the homepage of the website. To submit, send your story to Mrs. Beittel at rbeittel@ncmcs.org.
KEEP IN MIND: If your story were a movie, it shouldn’t be rated any higher than PG-13(minimal language, etc.).
Off you go now! Write! And if you get discouraged, remember this: “No one else sees the world the way you do, so no one else can tell the stories you have to tell.” (Charles de Lint)
And if that had no impact on you, “A non-writing writer is a monster courting insanity.” (Franz Kafka)
Only you can write the way you write, only you can tell the story in your head, and if you don’t, you just might go insane.
Happy writing!
